Have you ever read the news and upon seeing so many negative headlines, you felt a sense of doom and sadness for the world? In Germany, they have a word for this feeling: Weltschmerz. Consisting of the words Welt (world) and Schmerz (pain), the feeling describes exactly that — a pain you feel for the state of the world.

This new character coming to Inside Out 3 received positive reception at recent reveal. In focus groups it played well with just about everyone who has seen the news and especially well in groups who have lived in the world. Even people who haven’t seen the news resonated with this character. We don’t know much about this character at the moment but Welt is sure to become a core memory.
